Tambourine
04:39
|
|||
Bussed down into the city
Found my way to the Trinity
Read in Now Magazine
Picked up the scent of my own
I was 16 in 2003
With a secret inside of me
Filed into the congregation
Just as the organ began
There was no censoring
No shame
Just bodies abandoning
An altar of
Stained sheets
All sing along to Ban Marriage
Ooh ooh ohh
From the back
Of a darkened hall
I was guided towards it all
Never had felt so close to the heat
As they lifted me to my feet
Shine through me
Sanctuary
He gave me a tambourine
And I carried it with me
I played horn in the highschool band
Hid my face behind my bangs
Mumbled in baritone
Without a sense of my own
But they were an army of love
With sound raining down from above
Lifting their violins
Holding their heads high and proud
There was no censoring
No shame
Just bodies abandoning
An altar of
Stained sheets
All sing along to ban marriage
Ooh ooh ohh
From the back
Of a darkened hall
I was guided towards it all
Never had felt so close to the heat
As they lifted me to my feet
See right through me
Stained glass window
He gave me a tambourine
And I let go

There was a painting in that room
Where I would stay with you
A little girl had lost her way into a copse of spruce
Looking across a river to a clearing in the green
Oh amazed at what she sees
I asked you, Grandmother, can fairy tales be real?
Like in the books that pile up beside your spinning wheel.
Oh grandson In this universe there are many worlds like this
Oh many planes exist.
All at your fingertips
If we take a walk down behind the town
Look to the other side of the stream
There’s a place to see another world in time
Look to the other side of the stream.
Now as I grow I wonder still about that other realm
Is there another energy shadowed In parallel?
Every action and every choice leading to this branching tree
Oh do they follow me?
Just across the stream
If we take a walk down behind the town
Look to the other side of the stream
There’s a place to see another world in time
Look to the other side of the stream.
Ooh the other side of the stream

Brilliant Dawn
04:03
|
|||
Closing up with me
Walking the empty streets
Into a brilliant dawn
Without anybody else
Waking up to see
So close, vision’s blurry
The stirring of your eyelids
Unlike anybody else
These times when the world can fade away
Our love it can keep it all at bay
In this space we’ve made
Without anybody else
Worries they can stay
Longer than a single day
Forgotten in the rain
Just like anybody else
These times when the world can fade away
Our love it can keep it all at bay
In this space we’ve made
Without anybody else
Without anybody else

Long, Long
03:12
|
|||
A flame arrives
And eats what’s on the table
It reaches ground
And takes all that it’s able
So blindly forth
It follows it’s desire
And all we’ve known
Is thrown on the bonfire
The rain washed in and flooded out the stable
It overflowed the edges of the ladle
This Confluence is pouring over me
Pulling towards the edges of the sea
Long long
long
So long
That we’re back here where we started from
A name is born, written on the cradle
It follows you through childhood’s facts and fables
And then one day you notice your own face
Why all those years you felt so out of place
Long long
long
So long
That we’re back here where we started from

Obelisk
03:13
|
|||
I ran away
To save my face
From making up to you
That simple grace
You held me close
Those final days
Dancing with the ghost
Of emptied plates
Oh oh
Tell me Is this wise?
To lay again
Dreaming of this paradise
Oh oh
Is this really wise ?
To close our eyes
To all that we’ve been through
And start it all anew
I lost my grasp
Fell back to my birth
Dreamed that I was alone
On this earth
In my ship.
At the mercy of the wind
The waves your body made
Dragged me back in
Oh oh
Tell me Is this wise?
To lay again
Dreaming of this paradise
Oh oh
Is this really wise ?
To close our eyes
To all we’ve seen
To all that we’ve been through
And start it all anew
I lay instilled
No one to guide my will
A single obelisk
Crests that hill
Said don’t look back
You’ll break the spell
I saw your shining face
And then I fell

Grey Town
04:56
|
|||
Grey town, sleeping
No way to find it for me
All that’s stirring, stifling
This coat keeps that heat in
Holding, their Girlfriends
In their rough careless hands
Laughing so sure of their world
They don’t notice me
Only when I dream
Late nights, drowned in
Beads of sweat off their skin
The men have been drinking
And I can’t help staring
But I’ll never win
Final hour
When the women have gone
He will look through me
With the eyes of a lion
Only then I see
Loneliness, will deceive you
Pushed my head down, into the blue
Makes you feel like you don’t deserve
The warmth of something true
That love I never knew
Only when I dream

Soul Promise
03:14
|
|||
I’ve never dreamed of being so wrong
Another case of self sabotage
I can’t trust my brain, or even my body
There’s no reasoning, how’d we get so rocky?
How will I know?
Even if I make up my mind
What If It changes in time?
Been trying to do the right thing
What if my soul don’t ring?
What if my soul don’t ring?
Now I’ve always strived for only kindness
But I took a dive into this blindness
Cause I am the Sun but I am the Moon too
You can’t tear apart these pieces of you
How will I know?
Even if I make up my mind
What If It changes in time?
Been trying to do the right thing
What if my soul don’t ring?
In order to feel alive
You know it’s painful sometimes
Can something so deep inside
Really be a lie?
Can I be honest with myself?
And if I’m honest with myself
Can I be honest with myself?
I’ve never dreamed of being so wrong
Another case of self sabotage

Love is a Feel
04:56
|
|||
Stranger on the 7th floor
So distant from his lover
A stirring in the pit of him
Embers glowing soft and dim
He wants to know that he’s still wanted
He wants to know that he’s still there
He needs to feel that direction
Oh Stretching through the atmosphere
Love is just a way to feel
And nobody can prove its real
Love is just a way to feel
And often it is so surreal
Waiting for that little sound
That tells him that he’s coming round
Just a couple simple words
Come Traveling across the world
He wants to share all these places
He wants to share this full moon
He needs to share all this yearning
To get back to his lover soon
Yeah
Love is just a way to feel
And nobody can prove its real
Love is just a way to feel
And often it is so surreal
Nobody can tell you what you need
No telling with the forces that be
No saying what got in the way of us
Love is just a way to feel
And nobody can prove its real
Love is just a way to feel
And often it is so surreal
Tell me it’s real

Life Line
02:58
|
|||
I’ve been on the wrong side of fate
Stranded in the wilds beyond the city gates
I’ve stood on the wrong side of fate
Left out after dark with only my mistakes
You traced a line across my palm
Drawing with your fingers through my whole life long
Already written before I was born
Looming in my future, I have been forewarned
This ribbon stretches long a red
Straighter than an arrow but can it be bent?
Self defeating prophecy
Not gonna let it get to me
I’ve been on the wrong side of fate
Stranded in the wilds beyond the city gates
I’ve stood on the wrong side of fate
Left out after dark with only my mistakes
All you wanted was to move away
Out into the open you would stake your claim
But when that storm came blowing in
The scent of smoke on the wind
Your Mother told you that she knew
That just like her Mother you would follow suit
That this was just the family way
There is no, no escape
I’ve been on the wrong side of fate
Stranded in the wilds beyond the city gates
I’ve stood on the wrong side of fate
Left out after dark with only my mistakes
I stuck a feather in that page
Saving my place for another day
I watched it all just slip away
Holding, holding way too much weight
I’ve been on the wrong side of fate
Stranded in the wilds beyond the city gates
I’ve stood on the wrong side of fate
Left out after dark with only my mistakes

Heart Murmur
04:42
|
|||
That final trip
Down from that place
Four years on you scan the room to find a trace
Of what it means to spend your days
Then move towards another phase
A tempo beats
It moves us forward
Until a stranger taps you on the shoulder
You’d always dreamed to slip away
Floating through the etherwave
From a child into a man
How can we learn to follow
Taken hand in hand?
Heart murmur
Drifting out of time
Heart murmur
Out of synch with mine
Heart murmur
Drifting out of time
Out of synch with mine
We’re making plans
For when the weather turns
Picturing you golden, naked, in the water
We feel the pull of gentler days
Hoping that these feelings stay
We fall in step naturally
Beside me I can hear you breathing in the same key
You went away then you returned
No longer could I say these words
From a whisper to a scream
How can we close our eyes after all we’ve seen?
Heart murmur
Drifting out of time
Heart murmur
Out of synch with mine
Heart murmur
Drifting out of time
Out of synch with mine

The Thought
03:45
|
|||
When you find it
Hold it
I’ve been gone too many whiles
To even recognize it
That brilliant thought
That started you
Floating through that milky garden
You just can’t doubt that point of view
That brought your poetry to light
Clarify, dust orbits in the night
Just beyond your life
Can I?
Provide
More than just a single thread
To reach out to the living end
To tie
My mind
Knotted to the heartstrings of
Those singing for the want of love
It's just the moment we align
That’s how I learned to glide
Just behind your eyes
The thought
The thought
That thought
Just the thought
That thought
That thought
It all started with that thought

Homecoming
03:39
|
|||
Generations
Unfolding
Out across the fields
And over the lawn
Spreading our past
Supporting
Sewn out of our lives
lived and lost
Don’t forget what cost
Could they have even dreamed back then
How I’m laying next to you in bed
Basking in the freedom
That they have given me
Emerging
From hiding
I could’ve never found such bravery
The burning
Awaking
Dragged us from the ditch
Into the street
No option for defeat
Could it have even been a plan
Together as I take your hand
Basking in the freedom
That they have given me
That they have given me
That they have given me
Tired of running down the alley
Boot steps on our tail
Tired of curling in a ball woohoo
As kicks and punches flail
You can only push us over
For so many years
Until our faces dry
Caked in blood and streaked with tears
We always knew our power
Always felt our beauty
The heat between our bodies
Dancing through the early hours
And I just feel like screaming
All the love I’m feeling
Oh it’s got me reeling
The pride I see in being true
Losing your friends
Alone
In fear of what your lifetime could bring
But you just kept going
